Cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp gets approval from Italian regulator OAM to serve the people of the country. CoinDesk writes about it.
“Italy is one of Europe’s most important markets and we are pleased to offer its citizens a safe and secure way to trade cryptocurrencies,” said CEO Jean-Baptiste Graftier.
According to him, the local regulator’s license is part of the exchange’s global plans to “provide services in Europe and worldwide.”
According to OAM, Bitstamp is included in the registry of service providers in the digital asset market. The Italian office of the platform is located in Milan.
In July, OAM granted a license to operate in Italy to cryptocurrency platform Crypto.com.
Previously, the regulator approved exchanges Coinbase and Binance.
As a reminder, Bitstamp announced the introduction of a €10 monthly fee for inactive customers. However, after criticism from the community, the company gave up on this move.
