A political party in Denmark, whose ideology and program was built by artificial intelligence, plans to participate in the 2023 parliamentary elections. TechExplore writes about it.
At the end of May 2022, a group of artists Computer Lars formed the Synthetic Party (SP). They plan to reach around 15% of Danes who did not vote in 2019.
The party believes that voters do not vote because they are not approached by any traditional political force.
After analyzing all written publications of Danish microparties since 1970, SP’s artificial intelligence developed a program. According to the algorithm, it reflects the “political views of the average person.”
The party’s proposals include introducing an unconditional basic income of 100,000 kroner ($13,700) per month. The amount is more than double the national average.
SP also supports the addition of UN Sustainable Development Goal 18, which will allow “people and algorithms to coexist more directly than they do now.”
Voters can interact with the party’s AI via the Discord channel.
The creation of the joint venture is the response to hundreds of small organizations created in recent years. There are a total of 230 micro lots in Denmark, including Synthetics.
“It’s a way to emulate the political process everywhere, but a way to directly confront the legislative apparatus, political practice and organizational rights,” said Soldier Brild Staunaes, one of the team members.
The party has not yet received enough support to be a candidate in the 2023 elections. By law, political power must collect 20,182 signatures to be at the ballot box, and there are currently only four signatures.
But if the party manages to win a seat in the legislature, it plans to use its mandate to correlate artificial intelligence with work done by members of parliament.
“The idea is to take this great political and economic power. [алгоритмы] […] and try to fit it into the traditional political system,” said Brild Staunaes.
“We do not currently have the capacity to address human and artificial intelligence issues in a democratic setting,” he said.
The party plans to hold its first “live audience” campaign rally in September 2022.
Recall that in July, Chinese scientists created an AI to assess the loyalty of Communist Party members.
In June, researchers found that in 2018 Facebook’s algorithms favored posts from local US Republican Party cells, even though its competitors were posting more frequently.
