The company closes its representative office in the country and the operation of its service. Spotify app and web version will not be available to Russian customers and all Premium subscriptions will be cancelled.
Former DeepMind employees to create AI investment advisor
A group of former DeepMind employees developing an AI poker champion created a startup called Equilibre Technologies to “dominate” the stock market. They will use artificial intelligence as investment advisors when choosing stocks and cryptocurrencies.
The founders of the startup are known for creating complex algorithms that allow them to successfully solve problems without much knowledge. They combine game theory with artificial intuition to gain a theoretical advantage over other computer or human trafficking methodologies.
Epic Games introduced a 3D modeling tool from a series of shots
Epic Games has announced the beta version of its RealityScan mobile app for creating 3D models of objects from a series of photos. The tool allows users to bring real-world elements into a game or project.
To create a three-dimensional model of an object, you need to move around and take at least 20 photos. Once the scan is complete, the user can send the 3D item to the Sketchfab modeling platform.
The app is currently available to the first 10,000 beta testers.
Snapchat adds lens to learn sign language
Snapchat has launched a lens to teach users American Sign Language. Snap involved deaf employees in the development of the lens.

ASL Alphabet Lens system is based on SignAll artificial intelligence and computer vision technology. It follows hand movements and translates gestures into spoken language.
The AR lens will allow users to practice the Amslen alphabet and play two games to test their knowledge.
A host of AI features announced for Windows 11
Microsoft is adding AI background blur, eye correction, blink and video call noise reduction to Windows 11. The options will appear in one of the next major system updates.

The company said the features will work at the system level, including third-party programs. They will only appear on devices with neuroprocessor modules equipped with some modern computers, smartphones and tablets.
There is no data on the timing of the implementation of innovations. It is also unknown which users it will be available to use.
Google developed a language model that understands jokes
Google AI developers introduced the Pathways Language Model (PaLM) with 540 billion parameters that can explain jokes.

The developers evaluated the performance of the algorithm in hundreds of language comprehension and rendering tasks. They found that PaLM provided “state-of-the-art” performance, and in many cases even by a significant margin.
The model solves many different problems, including complex learning and reasoning. PaLM also produces clear explanations for scenarios that require a combination of multi-step inference, world knowledge, and deep language understanding. The algorithm can explain jokes that are not on the Internet.
Microsoft launches AI-powered note-taking app
Microsoft has released the Journal app for AI-powered note-taking on Windows. It allows users to capture their thoughts and drawings on digital pen-enabled devices.

The developers trained AI to automatically recognize and classify what’s written in notes, including titles, starred items, keywords, and sketches. For some graphics and text, the application creates a tooltip on the side of the page, allowing the user to select the content of the field and then move or copy it.
Journal supports moving content to other pages and apps.
According to the company, AI has helped implement new gestures such as “delete” and “instant lasso”, as well as improve the search for old notes and sketches in the app.
EU approves first X-ray AI analyzer
The European regulator has approved Oxipit’s ChestLink standalone x-ray AI analyzer. The vehicle has received the CE Class IIb certificate, which demonstrates compliance with EU safety standards.
The system scans chest images and automatically sends reports to patients with normal results. If potential problems are detected, the AI sends images showing areas of interest to the radiologist for examination. According to the company, ChestLink did not make a “clinically significant” error during testing.
The developers warned that medical institutions should audit existing imaging programs before implementing the new technology. They added that for the device to work autonomously, it must first be used under medical supervision.
Oxipit said the company also plans to file with the FDA.
Robot learns to peel bananas
Japanese researchers have trained a robot to peel a banana without damaging the core.
The machine has two manipulators. The scientists used a “deep simulation learning” process in which the robot was shown peeling a banana hundreds of times and the system was trained to replicate the actions shown. In this experiment, the device took 13 hours to analyze the data.
While the robot was only able to complete the job 57% of the time, the experiment shows the future of devices capable of performing more subtle manipulations.
The researchers claim that the proposed method will make it possible to train machines to perform a variety of simple “human” tasks. In the future, robots will help solve Japan’s labor shortage, they added.
