US mining company CleanSpark has signed a definitive agreement with WAHA Technologies to acquire a $16.2 million bitcoin mining business.
We are expanding our footprint in Georgia! ➡️ $CLSK got a ready plugin, #clean energy#bitcoins Mining plant from WAHA Technologies. Scalable to 86 MW or 2.6 EH/s – 38% increase #hash rate.
CleanSpark also purchased the approximately 3,400 Antminer S19 series miners installed at the facility for approximately $8.9 million.
The company will also place the paid and delivered equipment into the business. As a result, the CleanSpark hash rate is expected to increase by ~1.1 EH/s, or 38%, by the end of the third quarter.
Located in Washington, Georgia, the data center has a capacity of 36 MW and can be expanded with an additional 50 MW. The facility primarily consumes energy from low-carbon sources such as nuclear power plants.
The parties expect to complete the agreement within 30 days.
The data center will be the company’s third mining facility in the state, in addition to data centers in College Park and Norcross.
“The market is preparing for consolidation all summer and we are happy to be on the side of buyers. “Our focus on sustainability and maximizing stakeholder value has enabled us to take advantage of the unprecedented opportunities created by the current environment,” said CleanSpark CEO Zack Bradford.
The company posted a net loss of $29.1 million in its second-quarter earnings report. Revenue for the period was $31 million, down 17% from the first quarter.
In April-June, the company mined 964 BTC and increased the hash rate by 22%.
As of June 30, CleanSpark had $2.7 million in cash and $10.5 million in digital currency. The company’s total assets amounted to $411.1 million and debts amounted to $34.2 million.
Recall that in July, the company purchased 1061 Whatsminer M30S bitcoin miners at a “significantly discounted price” due to the market downturn.
