The Ethereum team has successfully completed the migration of the Goerli testnet to the Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus algorithm.

To do this, the developers implemented the merger of the network (The Merge) with the consensus layer of the Beacon Chain PoS blockchain called Prater.

“The Goerli testnet merger was successful and is now a full-fledged Proof-of-Stake chain. Next (finally) is the main Ethereum network. The merger is coming!” wrote Anthony Sassano, co-founder of EthHub.

Developer Marius van der Weyden noted that there was “some confusion” in the network due to the many nodes with outdated software. According to him, there were no problems at the code level during the migration.

In June, the Ethereum team migrated the Ropsten testnet to the PoS algorithm. A similar event took place on the Sepolia testnet in July.

Activation of Join on the mainnet is scheduled for September. The Goerli migration was the third and final rehearsal of the merger before it went live on the mainnet.

Bakery and Rinkeby tight networks will not be forwarded to PoS. After the mainnet transition, they will be shut down like Ropsten.

Against the backdrop of The Merge’s successful recent test, Ethereum price has surpassed $1,900. During the day, the price of the coin increased by almost 13%.
