According to International Data Corporation (IDC) researchers, global revenue from sales of AI products in 2021 totaled $383.3 billion, a 20.7% increase from the previous year.

Experts analyzed global spending on AI in software, hardware and services.

The software industry continued to be the largest segment of the market, accounting for total spend of approximately $340 billion last year. Almost half of this amount was brought in by artificial intelligence applications. At the same time, AI software platforms recorded the highest annual growth of 36.6%.

Spending on AI equipment in 2021 was approximately $18.8 billion, but this sector saw the fastest growth – 38.9% compared to 2020. $15.6 billion received its share of server sales.

While the total value of the artificial intelligence services market increased by 22.4% compared to 2020 and reached 24 billion dollars, services in the field of information technology increased by 21.9% and brought in 18.8 billion dollars.

By 2022, analysts expect the artificial intelligence market to reach $450 billion.

In the 2021 report, IDC researchers estimated AI spending to rise 15.2% to $341.8 billion.

“Across industries and functions, consumer-facing organizations are discovering the benefits of AI as more powerful systems enable better decision making and increased productivity,” said Rasmus Andsbjerg, vice president of data and analytics at IDC.

Recall that KPMG researchers discovered in March 2021 that the pandemic was accelerating the deployment of AI systems.

In November, Gartner’s 2021 analysts predicted that the software market for artificial intelligence would grow to $62.5 billion.
