How to completely clean the refrigeration and air conditioning radiators without dismantling half a car
All sorts of internet experts are spreading on the internet a lot of trite tips about car care after summer service, not to mention scaring car owners with the terrible consequences of radiator honeycombs clogged with dirt and dust. To remove it, “experts” recommend a standard-banal method, which was repeatedly described a thousand years ago. It involves laborious and not quick disassembly of both radiators and their thorough cleaning. The AutoView portal offers a much simpler and faster (and therefore cheaper!) way!

The main advantage of the method of cleaning the radiators, which will be discussed, is the absence of the need to almost completely disassemble the front of the engine compartment. Admittedly, we need compressed air instead. That is, in home garage conditions, unfortunately, such an operation still cannot be performed. After mentioning compressed air, a savvy reader has most likely already guessed which method will be discussed. But not everything is so easy with it, because sometimes something like “felt” is formed between the engine cooling radiators and the “kondeya” from seeds and fluff of plants, dust, dead insects. And all this is flavored with bitumen oil “gravy” that flies from under the wheels of other cars.

Therefore, a person who “blows out” the dirt from the space between the radiators should not only have in their hands a compressed air hose equipped with a long and thin metal pipe nozzle. It should also be armed with a long and thin, but strong rod with a small hook at the end – to make it easier to sort out the “felt” under a stream of compressed air. I think it is worth recalling again that during such cleaning, the risk of damage to the honeycombs should be avoided in all possible ways.

If you successfully coped with the elimination of “felt”, you should not complete the cleaning procedure. Although such a result will greatly facilitate the life of both the engine and the air conditioner. The fact is that after such an operation, many cells of both radiators were still clogged with dirt. To cope with this problem, you need to use special chemicals – one of the “radiator cleaners”, which can be found on the shelves of almost every car store. We have several bottles of this spray in stock and treat both our radiators with the Cleaner.

It is necessary to pour without sparing, “from the heart”, so that the liquid flows and drips over all surfaces, flows into the honeycombs and dissolves the remnants of impurities that are there. After such treatment, it is necessary to give the chemistry 10-15 minutes to dissolve the dirt in the nooks and crannies. Then we take another hose with compressed air and carefully jet it through the honeycombs, blowing out the semi-liquid substance that is there. Everything, now the engine cooling radiator and the air conditioning evaporator are really clean. And we did that without dismantling half of the car’s engine compartment!
