Finland will transfer money as aid to Ukraine from the sale of bitcoins seized during various investigations. This was reported by the local Helsingin Sanomat newspaper, relying on government sources.
According to estimates, the value of the cryptocurrency seized by the Finnish authorities is estimated at around 73 million euros. It has not yet been decided how much of the funds received during the Bitcoin sale will be sent to Ukraine.
According to Helsingin Sanomat, the government also considered the possibility of directly transferring the 1981 military-technical cooperation seized by customs to Ukraine. But by law, confiscated assets must be converted to fiat and transferred to the government.
Customs has already selected two local digital asset service providers to act as intermediaries in the sale of the cryptocurrency. They will be Coinmotion and Tesseract.
About 1,890 BTC will be delivered to companies at the beginning of summer.
Customs announced a tender between brokers for the sale of seized cryptocurrencies last year.
