Hunter Margaret, well-known in the crypto industry, became COO of digital assets at $53.5 billion hedge fund Millennium Management, the designation confirmed on her LinkedIn page.
Until June 2021, Margaret headed Bitstamp’s US division, before that she was head of commerce at Coinbase for two years. His appointment to Millennium will not prevent Castle Island Ventures from remaining as a partner.
Margaret entered the crypto industry in 2018 after working for Barclays, RBC Capital Markets and Credit Suisse for 12 years.
According to The Block, the expert will create a strategy and trading operations. Millennium Management is teaming up to set up a digital assets division from 2020. In April 2021, the company invested in bitcoin through the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust.
A month later, CoinDesk reported that Millennium Management, Point72 Asset Management, and Matrix Capital Management were in various stages of creating cryptocurrency funds.
Recall that in March 2022, Kenneth Griffin, CEO of a major market maker Citadel, admitted that his skepticism about cryptocurrencies was wrong. He hinted that “in the coming months” the hedge fund could make practical moves in the cryptocurrency market.
Earlier, Orlando Bravo, co-founder of Thoma Bravo and managing partner with $83 billion in assets, has invested in bitcoin.
