Bentley University (BU), in collaboration with bitcoin exchange Coinbase, has added the ability to pay tuition fees in cryptocurrencies. This is indicated on the website of the educational institution.
“Bentley University is at the forefront of developing business leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a changing global economy. We are proud to use the technology that our students have learned.”
Students and their families will be able to pay in Bitcoin, Ethereum or USD Coin (USDC) stablecoins. In the same assets, the university plans to accept donations.
According to the post, student interest also contributed to the creation of a new course on crypto finance. It will launch in the fall and will focus on blockchain applications and the DeFi industry.
Equinox, a chain of luxury fitness clubs, made a similar decision. The company has partnered with the BitPay processing service to enable New York gym customers to pay for annual memberships with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin, Litecoin, Shiba Inu, WBTC and five stablecoins: BUSD, DAI, GUSD, USDP and USDC.
Previously, the Wix cloud platform, American online retailer Shop.com, and a number of other companies began accepting cryptocurrencies through BitPay.
Recall that according to a survey by Visa, in 2022 almost a quarter of small merchants in nine countries plan to accept digital currencies as a form of payment.
