a technological artifact

In addition to the intrinsic value of Jobs’ signature, the check has historical significance because of the address it contains – 770 Welch Rd, St. 154 Palo Alto. This address was Apple’s first registered address in Palo Alto to connect to the Mail Service, which also provides a reply service. During Apple’s formative years, this humble home played an important role in the company’s early operations.

In 1977, Steve Jobs and his partner Steve Wozniak chose this address as a base for their activities. It was in this inconspicuous building where they worked to create the first computers that paved the way for Apple’s success. The historical significance of this check therefore lies not only in Jobs’ signature, but also in its connection to the mausoleum that started the technological revolution.

Jobs and Wozniak’s passions eventually expanded beyond Palo Alto to Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California. Yet the address on the check serves as proof of this tech giant’s humble origins, recalling the legendary family garage of the Jobs family where the company’s first innovations were born.

Currently, it is unknown who the buyer of this remarkable historical monument is. But there’s no doubt that Apple will see it as a valuable property, a tangible link to the early days of its extraordinary journey.
