What is known about Project Q

The console was announced during the PlayStation Showcase event on Wednesday – it was called Project Q. At the same time, Sony directly names the new product accessory for PS5.

• The manufacturer states that Project Q will stream video games from the PlayStation 5 console to a portable device over the Internet using the PS Remote Play functionality.
• The model will take all the controls found in DualSense wireless controllers.
• It will also have an 8-inch LCD display that supports resolutions up to 1080p and a frequency of 60 hertz. As with classic controllers, the novelty will feature dynamic adaptive triggers and provide haptic feedback.

Although it is not known exactly when and how much it will cost, the console is expected to be introduced this year.

According to available data, console owners’ hopes that they’ll be able to use the console directly with Sony’s game cloud service have yet to materialize. To play the game on a handheld console it has to be connected to the PlayStation 5 – Project Q is actually just an accessory – it’s a kind of wireless controller with a screen and is functionally far inferior to SteamDeck or even smartphones. However, it is possible that the company will add this option in the future.

Having met Project Q, the company is responding to the increasing demand for portable consoles. In this sense, Project Q is a special option that allows you to use the PlayStation 5, the powerful iron of a stationary console. But you don’t have to wait for Project Q’s premiere to use the Remote Play functionality – pretty much any iPhone, Android smartphone , a computer on Windows and Mac, and even Linux can be used instead using the official app.
