Despite the rumors and reports circulating on the internet, there is no indication that Apple is planning a new entry in the iPhone SE series this year. And now, it looks like there won’t be a new iPhone SE model next year.

Apple may halt development of iPhone SE 4

The information comes from Barclay analysts, who are believed to be in touch with the Cupertino-based giant’s supply chain. Its reports state that the iPhone maker is working on developing its own 5G modem. In other words, the company plans to abandon the purchase of Qualcomm 5G modems for future iPhone models and other products.

However, this report shows that the brand is not planning to launch a new iPhone SE model anytime soon. Earlier this year, we covered a report that implied that the iPhone SE 4 will launch in 2024 with an OLED display and Apple’s own 5G chipset. But the latest information suggests otherwise: according to renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone SE model probably won’t launch in 2024, because the 5G chipset won’t go into mass production until 2025.

In other words, the new iPhone SE model will be released in the same year as the iPhone 16, which has been almost two years away. For those who don’t know, the iPhone SE is the company’s compact flagship phone and is affordable compared to mainstream premium models. The final model was presented in 2022, and it looks like fans of this series may have to wait a full two years for its successor.
