The exodus of Nissan, whose Russian factory fell under the heel of LADA, as well as the transfer of the Toyota site to the missile concern Almaz-Antey ended the thirtieth anniversary of the work of Japanese car brands in Russia. No cars have been sold in a year and dealers are struggling single-handedly with the maelstrom of events. This is the official agenda for everyone. And also for us. But some elements, to put it mildly, are sewn with white threads. Why, explains the portal “AvtoVzglyad”.

The entire Runet hotly discusses the “return” of the Honda brand to Russia: pessimists point the finger at parallel imports, optimists, on the contrary, at the fact, multiplied by the scale of the proposed models, as well as warranty and service options. Let’s add a fact to the scale of the latter: the director of Motor Place, the newly minted importer of Civic and Accord, Mikhail Plotnikov, was once the sales and marketing director of Honda Motor Rus.

Coincidence, of course, nothing personal. Moreover, Honda itself has already denied such an approach: they say, we don’t know anything, the gates are locked, there are no plans. And the dealer in St. Petersburg is a fraud and a complete amateur performance, which we condemn with every fiber, not only from Japan, but also directly from our main market – the USA.

And this whole story would have drowned in the flow of information if not for one “but”: a few days earlier, a very unequivocal statement from a Japanese deputy sheriff with a car surname Suzuki slipped into the news agenda. The choice of the people hinted gently that political will, even in such an orthodox country as Japan, is a temporary phenomenon. Fickle, tactical. Today it is like this, tomorrow it will be different. But trade relations with Russia are always essential.

Cooperation is needed: the richest storehouse of natural resources, which is also a gas station, a shed and an armory, can form an excellent tandem with the owner of the world’s best applied technologies. Peace in Asia without Russia is generally impossible, but attracting the world’s most protective organization, NATO, to the region is a questionable decision. Because where NATO is, there is absurdity and corruption. Commenting on this statement is just to spoil the style.

It is already possible to draw a kind of straight line on two points, but to consolidate it, we add a third: Japan is increasing the supply of products to Russia. And not only in the automotive industry, but also in many other areas. They do not go beyond the sanctions, but a ski slope has already been built. There is a fourth: none of the Japanese brands have officially left our market. They sit still, waiting, not trembling. Giving warranty, monitoring dealer network, supplying spare parts as far as possible. And Suzuki openly stated that it wasn’t going anywhere. Look, you are small, but brave!

For many years, Japan was considered a country of slow people who cannot make decisions quickly. However, this conclusion of banking specialists is far from the truth: in the Land of the Rising Sun, temporary events are not taken into account, but plans are made for many years. Decades and even centuries. The gradation of events is an important difference between the islands and the rest of the world. And an important part of the planning. And in these plans, Russia apparently takes up much more space than some other noisy states. Oil and gas also have to be paid for in one way or another and there is less and less confidence in the ‘international currency’. So the samurai cherish the real opportunities in the commodity market. Protected at the state level.
