A Domino’s courier takes on the role of a jetpack pilot. Taking off from a nearby facility in Glastonbury, the driver flew over the fields and personally delivered pizzas to satisfied visitors.
Domino’s admitted that they have been taking orders from Glastonbury for many years, but logistical constraints have kept them from delivering food directly to the event. So they decided to take inspiration from the iconic bravado of Elton John’s Rocketman and created their own “rocket men” to satisfy the hunger of festival visitors.
When asked about the possibility of The Independent making jetpack pizza delivery a regular practice, a Domino’s representative declined to respond directly, saying:
All we can say at this point is that the idea is legs… or wings… or a jetpack.
Jetpack was custom made
A custom-made jet suit used for delivery costs several hundred thousand dollars. Company Gravity Industries, behind the team, explained that delivering pizza using jetpacks is a unique situation because food delivery is not part of typical flight plans. Still, they believe this is a glimpse into the “future of expedited delivery.”
