Handheld gaming machines have risen from the ashes, buoyed by the Steam Deck’s push and of course the Nintendo Switch’s mobile gameplay. Sony will also return to the segment with its Project Q, which won’t quite be the PlayStation Vita 2 as we expected, but which confirms how alive this market is again.

In addition to what the gaming giants offer, another good part of the offer comes from Chinese manufacturers specialists like AYA or One-Netbook Technology, which has machines on the market as spectacular as the ONEXPLAYER 2. Now we have another one, the ONEXFLY, which appeared on the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.

ONEXFLY feature

It was originally announced as a 6-inch version with an AMD Mendocino processor and a cheap price. But nothing is further from reality, it will finally be a ‘machine’, even if in return it will not be as cheap as they promised.

ONEXFLY will have an LCD screen 7 inch IPS diagonal with native FHD resolution for 1920 x 1080 pixels. The SoC is also better than advertised, AMD’s ‘Phoenix’ Ryzen 7840U, a massive 8-core pocket PC model, and integrated Radeon 780M graphics with 12 compute units and architecture. RDNA3.

It’s the best pocket APU AMD has, with the exception of the Ryzen Z1, which is Phoenix’s own chips for the ASUS ROG Ally console. It does not lag behind in memory and storage, as 16 or 32 Gbytes of LPDDR5X and M.2 Gen4 SSD are listed for equipment from 512 Gbytes to 4 Tbytes.

The images show USB-C, USB-A and headphone ports on the top of the system, as well as a hole that is likely to be a microphone. It will feature stereo speakers tuned by Harman Kardon and custom RGB lighting under the joysticks. It will include a 48 Wh battery and a compact GaN power adapter for a weight of approx 580 grams.

ONEXFLY is announced on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo with a few more details. The product doesn’t seem to have a release date yet and with this level of specs it looks really good, but we are afraid that the price will be high.
