Last month, it was reported that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 could offer IP58 dust and water protection. However, Samsung leak-savvy and insider trust Ice Universe claims that the Z Fold 5 does not have an IP58 rating.
As such, it seems likely that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will maintain the IPX8 waterproof level found in its predecessors. According to another tweet from the whistleblower, the Z Fold 5 will also have a similar fold as the Z Fold 4 on the inner folding screen.
Contrary to previous reports that Samsung is using a new drop-shaped hinge to reduce creases on the screen, the speaker’s claim suggests that the crease on the Z Fold 5 will be nearly identical to the crease on the Z Fold 4.
Reports have revealed that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will feature a 7.6-inch internal folding screen and a 6.2-inch pop-up display. Both AMOLED panels will support a 120Hz refresh rate. The device is expected to come pre-loaded with Android 13 OS based on One UI 5.1.1. It will have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security.
The Z Fold 5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset running at 3.36 GHz for the Galaxy. It will be equipped with 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. It may have a 4400mAh battery with 25W fast charging and 15W wireless charging support.
It will have a 10-megapixel front camera and a 4-megapixel under-screen camera. The rear camera of the device will have a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS support, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera.
