Rampage: custom built RAM

Launched worldwide, it is the first RAM designed and developed in the region.

Regional pickup truck with the highest technology content on the market, with driving assistance systems and the new RAM Connect system.

First car produced in South America with Hurricane 4 engine.

The most powerful and fastest pickup truck of regional production, with a capacity of 272 hp. and capable of speeds up to 220 km / h.

Two 2.0 turbo engines, one diesel and one petrol: Hurricane 4.

Three versions with their own personality: Laramie, Rebel and R/T, always with a 9-speed automatic transmission and 4×4 traction.

More than 800 engineers and technicians from the region worked on the project, and it took more than 1.2 million hours to develop.

Launched in Brazil and previewed for ANCA markets. Rampage offers a high dose of reliability, capacity, sophistication and technology – the fundamental pillars that are always present in RAM pickups – in a car of the ideal size for the typical conditions of our region. Rampage will have its world premiere in our region.

Rampage is the first RAM car designed and developed in Latin America. With the support of the brand’s North American teams, more than 800 engineers and technicians worked on the Rampage project, over 1.2 million hours of development took place.

The fifth vehicle, to be produced at the Stellantis Automotive Pole plant in Goian, Pernambuco, which has already produced around 1.4 million units, is presented in the neighboring country in three versions, each with its own character: Laramie, Rebel and R/T. .

Design

The work of the Stellantis Design Center in South America, Rampage collaborated with North American designers to get its impressive and impressive lines. Because all the outstanding design features of the RAM 1500, 2500 and 3500 had to be seen in this first RAM conceived outside of the parent company.

The body is new and the proportions have been carefully considered to make the body look “muscular” from any angle. The Stellantis designers also worked to ensure that each version of the Rampage could display a distinct personality.

That’s why the Rebel has an off-road look with extensive use of black exterior hardware. Like the “big sister” Ram 1500 Rebel, the wheels and trapezoidal grille have an exclusive design.

In the Rampage Laramie, chrome and silver trim dominates various parts such as the front grille, window frames, mirror caps, door handles, logos, wheels and rear bumper, salvaging the more traditional styling found on the RAM 2500 and 3500.

In the sportiest version of the R/T, following the tradition of the famous initials (“Road/Track”, Ruta/Pista), it shows a combination of components in body color and high-gloss black. Also notable are the large stripes on the hood and the version emblem on the rear fenders and on the front of the steering wheel, exclusive to this version. The sports package is complemented by a black patterned roof.

Also worth mentioning is the attention paid to the details of the Rampage, such as the optical assemblies being all-LED. The headlights have a bright character and the arrows are dynamic and the light “moves” from the inside to the outside, a first in this segment. The headlights have a dual-function spotlight responsible for side light and high beam. And the fog lights are also LED with a turn function (accompany the turn).

At the rear, the taillights feature a graphic that, when turned on, resembles the US flag with red stripes and reversing lights forming a rectangle of stars. Both optics continue to move in greeting when the pickup is started.

Rampage dimensions are 5028mm long, 1886mm wide, 1780mm high and 2994mm wheelbase.

Force

Rampage is the most powerful pickup produced in South America. This is due to the state-of-the-art Hurricane 4 engine, first used in a car produced in the region. This is 272 hp. power and 400 Nm (40.8 kgf) of torque generated by a 2-liter inline-four-cylinder petrol engine, the same one that powers the Jeep Wrangler. Modern, completely made of aluminum, with direct fuel injection and dual variable valve timing.

As part of the Stellantis GME (Global Midsize Engine) family, the Hurricane 4 also features a fast-acting twin-scroll turbocharger, an electronic relief valve and a cooled exhaust gas recirculation system.

In the sportiest R/T version of all, the Rampage accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and has a (limited) top speed of 220 km/h. In other versions, performance remains impressive, with 0-100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h.

It is worth noting that when equipped with this engine, the Rampage has a dual exhaust, which in the R / T version looks sporty. Inside, the Sport button not only changes the look of the digital instrument cluster, but also makes driving sportier by shifting gears at higher revs. In R/T, the button is named version.

The Rampage’s other engine is the already proven 2.0-litre Multijet turbodiesel, producing 170 hp. power and 380 Nm (38.8 kgf) of torque. An unrivaled combination of economy and performance, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds and reaching 186 km/h.

To handle all the power of these two engines, the transmission system is top notch. All versions of the Rampage have a nine-speed automatic transmission with a rotary selector like the RAM 1500 and manual shifting via steering wheel paddles. For its part, the traction is always automatic 4×4, which distributes the force between the two axles, with the possibility of reducing it using a button on the center console.

Ability

Capacity is a sine qua non for Ram, and Rampage is proof of that. Starting with a structural strength of 86% high and ultra high resistance steel. Four-wheel independent, with McPherson architecture at the front and multi-link at the rear, the suspensions feature new truck-specific geometry and calibration with RAM DNA. The aim is to provide maximum comfort and stability in every situation, whether off-road or sporty driving, without sacrificing load capacity.

The R/T version also gets stiffer springs and dampers, 10mm lower suspension, and 19-inch wheels with 235/55 tires. On the Rebel, off-road performance is boosted by All Terrain 235/65 R17 tires, more off-road on the petrol version. The Laramie version has 18-inch wheels and 235/60 tires.

The high performance of the Hurricane 4 engine also required special attention to the braking system. All Rampages have ventilated discs on all four wheels: 305mm front and 320mm rear. The parking brake is electronic and has an Auto Hold function that makes life easier for the driver in heavy traffic. On slopes, it also has Start Assist. Also standard on all versions is Hill Descent Control (HDC) for steep off-road descents.

The load capacity is 1015 kg in diesel configuration and 750 kg in petrol. Numbers that facilitate the transportation of heavy loads in the box, which in all modifications has a plastic lining and has a volume of 980 liters. Even in the cab, there is plenty of storage space: 35.4 liters is the best among midsize trucks.

sophistication

The Rampage’s interior has been meticulously designed to provide passengers with sophistication and comfort. The seats are inspired by premium furniture, giving you the feeling of being in a living room armchair. All with a very high level of finish, as evidenced by the choice of noble materials such as perforated leather and suede (the latter, exclusive to the R/T version, which also features red stitching to further emphasize the sporty look). ).

Air conditioning digital, two-zone, with sockets for passengers in the back. The focus on creating a sophisticated ambiance is also reflected in the ambient LED lighting and premium Harman Kardon® audio system. The latter has 10 speakers distributed throughout the cabin, one of which is a 6-inch subwoofer located under the passenger seat. The system is capable of generating 360 watts of power. Both features are standard on the Rampage R/T and optional on other trim levels. Even in the box, you can see the attention paid to creating a pleasant user experience. In addition to electric opening (using a button on the key), it has shock absorption to allow it to be lowered smoothly and to make lifting easier, and the interior lighting is also LED.

The instrument panel is wrapped in leather, as are the door panel, center armrest and multifunction steering wheel with height and depth adjustment. The dashboard is trimmed in black leather on the Rebel, brown leather on the Laramie and suede on the R/T. In addition to this, the front door panel and the upper part of the instrument panel have a soft-touch coating, which helps to reduce interior noise in the cabin. In all versions, the driver’s seat is electric with 12 positions, 4 of which are lumbar. Passenger seat is 12-way power on R/T (optional for other trims).

Technologies

Rampage is a regionally produced truck with the most extensive technological content. Iron has 22.6-inch screens. There’s a 10.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch Uconnect multimedia hub, the largest in the category. In addition to screen size and clarity, the system features intuitive controls and features such as wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and the ability to connect up to two smartphones at the same time. Standing out on the wide center console is the Ramcharger, an induction cell phone charger with an air outlet to cool the phone. It has 6 USB ports, 3 of which are type C and are scattered throughout the cab, which is the largest number of compact and medium trucks on the market.

The list of safety equipment is extensive and includes, for example: seven airbags (front, front side, curtains (front and rear) and driver’s knees), stability control, roll mitigation, automatic high beams, tire pressure monitoring and different kinds of driving. These include adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go, forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking and pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic detection and adjusted lane departure warning.

Another highlight of Rampage in all versions is the Ram Connect. This is a set of services that connects the driver to the pickup truck in several ways. Both through a range of on-board resources and through a smartphone app, from which you can remotely view the unit status report showing next service time, tire pressure and fuel level, and other information.

Standard Rampage items also include remote key start (which can also be done using the Ram Connect app), Keyless Enter’n Go, an electrochromic interior rearview mirror, rain and dusk sensors, and power outside mirrors with electric folding and backlight.
