According to rumors, new details about the Samsung Galaxy Smart Tag 2 have emerged. The device, which has recently gone through regulatory bodies like the Bluetooth SIG, FCC, and Thailand’s NBTC, appears to be on the verge of its official launch, suggesting it will launch in October.

While the exact launch date is not yet known, UK retailer MobileFun has announced that the device will be available soon. Leaked official images released by the UK retailer show the Smart Tag 2 in two stylish colors, black and white. These color options are listed with their respective part numbers such as EI-T5600BBEGEU and EI-T5600BWEGEU. These images coincide with previous leaks and confirm that the device has been completely redesigned based on the previous model.
Rumors suggest that the South Korean tech giant has taken a bold step by integrating Ultra Wide Range (UWB) support into Smart Tag 2 by default. This technology can improve location accuracy and fully integrate with the Find My Android network, serving a wider user base. In particular, unlike previous models, each Galaxy SmartTag 2 is expected to have both Bluetooth and UWB connectivity, eliminating the need for separate models.
MobileFun lists the pre-order price as £42.99 (~$54) for individual Smart Tag 2 units. However, this may not be in line with Samsung’s official pricing strategy, which is expected to differ from region to region. For context, the original SmartTag was launched in the US with a price tag of $29.99.
What sets the Smart Tag 2 apart is its potential to revolutionize personal property tracking. Users can connect the device to objects and track their location in real time using the SmartThings Find app. The device’s redesigned form factor not only enhances its usefulness, it can also pave the way for third-party accessory manufacturers to explore creative additions and enhancements.
Smart Tag 2 is expected to have the ability to create virtual environments. Users can define safe zones by receiving notifications on their mobile devices if SmartTag 2 goes outside these limits. This feature adds an extra layer of security for users who want to keep their valuables in a designated area.
It’s possible that this announcement will coincide with other Samsung releases like the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series and Galaxy S23 FE, as the leaks point to an October launch.
