The iPhone 15 Pro was announced last week and is now available in stores in more than 40 countries worldwide. As people finally started using the new phones, Apple updated its site with more information about them. And interestingly, the company says that keeping the iPhone 15 Pro without a case may affect the color of the new titanium frame, at least temporarily.

Your hands may affect the color of iPhone 15 Pro

Apple has added a new section about the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to its support article on how to clean your iPhone. According to the company, those who use new iPhones without a case may notice color fading after a while. This is because “oil from your skin can temporarily change the color of the outer band.”

In other words, Apple confirms what we saw in early reviews: Despite the new titanium frame, the iPhone 15 Pro is still a fingerprint magnet.

Fortunately, Apple also says that this situation is temporary. Users can remove fingerprints from the iPhone frame by wiping them with a “soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.” While there are no recommendations on which polishing cloth to use, I’m sure Apple would want you to use its own $19 polishing cloth.

On iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, oil from your skin may temporarily discolor the outer band. You will restore your iPhone to its original appearance by wiping it with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.

It is worth noting that both the front and back of the iPhone 15 Pro are made mostly of glass. But the stainless steel side frame has been replaced with a new frame made of titanium, which is also stronger and lighter. Thanks to titanium, the frame now has a matte appearance instead of glossy.

In addition, the recommendations for cleaning the iPhone 15 Pro are the same as for other iPhones. Apple recommends users unplug all cables before cleaning the device and avoid using cleaning solutions. The company also does not recommend using compressed air. Source
