Xiaomi announced that it has ended MIUI 14 beta development for several of its smartphones. The company is stopping updates for a total of 13 smartphones. Details are here.
Xiaomi stops MIUI 14 Development version for 13 smartphones
First, Xiaomi is stopping developing MIUI 14 versions for its six older devices:
- Xiaomi 11
- Xiaomi 11 Pro
- Xiaomi 11 Ultra
- Redmi K40S
- Redmi Note 11T Pro
- Redmi Note 11T Pro+
These devices will no longer receive beta updates after September 22, 2023. However, Xiaomi will continue to support these devices with stable versions of MIUI 14 and Android 14.
Additionally, Xiaomi has also suspended the release of the Android 13-based MIUI development version for some of its new models. The list of devices includes:
- Xiaomi 13 Ultra
- Xiaomi 13 Pro
- Xiaomi 13
- Xiaomi MIX Folding 3
- Xiaomi MIX Folding 2
- Redmi K60 Pro
- Redmi K60
None of these devices will receive the MIUI 14 Beta update starting September 23. However, unlike the above models, Xiaomi has confirmed that the development version of these models will be re-released after being updated to Android 14.
MIUI 15 based on Android 14 is currently in the testing phase for these smartphones. It will be released for listed smartphones in the coming weeks. Additionally, Xiaomi officially announced that the development of the MIUI 15 version will continue on October 13.
For those who don’t know, MIUI development is a test version of MIUI released to a small number of users before the official version is released. It is used to detect and fix bugs and test new features. The development version is less stable than the official version so it is not recommended for daily use.
On the other hand, the official version of MIUI is the stable version of MIUI that has been tested and optimized for daily use. This is the generally available version.
