Galaxy A54 was released earlier this year with very mediocre features for its price. Although the phone has a similar design to the Galaxy S23 series, the thick frames on its screen and the Exynos 1380 chip caused mixed reactions among consumers. According to reports, Samsung is currently testing its next premium mid-range smartphone, Galaxy A55. Rumor has it that the phone will get an updated Exynos chip. Details are here.

According to a report by GalaxyClub, Samsung is testing the Galaxy A55 with processor model number S5E8845. The chipset codenamed “Rose” is probably Exynos 1480. This is because the Exynos 1280 is labeled as S5E8825 and the 1380 as S5E8835. Since the following two processors power the Galaxy A53 and A54, it seems logical that the Exynos 1480 will be under the hood of the Galaxy A55.

The publication also points out that the Exynos 1480 will be powered by AMD graphics. This confirms an earlier leak by Revegnus, which claimed that future mid-range Exynos processors will feature AMD’s mRDNA-based GPU. However, the speaker warned against pushing this GPU too high.

Finally, the report says that the Galaxy A55 will not receive a camera upgrade as it will have the same 50MP primary sensor as the Galaxy A54. This could mean that the phone will retain the 12MP ultra-wide and 5MP macro cameras.

Other details about the Galaxy A55 are unknown. According to Samsung’s usual schedule, we can assume that the phone will be released in early March next year. You can expect the smartphone to feature a 120Hz AMOLED display, as well as a 5,000mAh battery and Samsung’s incredibly fast 25W charging technology.
