One of the improvements of the series iPhone 15 It is a new second-generation ultra-wideband chip. This chip can communicate with other devices that share the same chip from a longer distance than the U1 chip used in iPhones and previous generation AirTags.

The new Find feature allows iPhone 15 users to find friends who own iPhone 15 using the “Full Find” interface (Sensitive Finding), shows constantly updated distance and direction indicators.

Teknofilo’s demo shows the iPhone 15 connecting to another phone about 200 feet away; This is well beyond the range we’ve seen Precision Find work with AirTags.

This feature is enabled by selecting a friend in Find. When a full search is available, the Find: Nearby button appears in the details card. The distance and direction arrow are constantly updated as the user gets closer to their friend’s location.

The video supports Apple’s claim that the second-generation chip has three times the range of the U1. The maximum accurate search range of AirTags is approximately 10-15 meters. The new model of AirTags will likely be equipped with a new super-wideband chip, significantly improving the process of finding items.
