For the past few weeks, we’ve been announcing that Sony is working on a new pair of true wireless headphones. These new models are part of the LinkBuds series and are called LinkBuds S. We now have more information about these headphones before they launch.

According to the WinFuture report, the Japanese tech giant plans to launch the LinkBuds S soon. Unlike the non-S version, which has an open loop design, the upcoming version has a more common closed design. However, as each earbud weighs just 4.8 grams, they are unlike any other TWS earphones on the market. In other words, the LinkBuds S may be the “lightest and smallest” headphones on the market.

Note that although it is very light, it still offers cutting-edge technologies such as noise reduction and high-resolution audio. This also means that Sony has another aspect of the LinkBuds S that should be introduced when marketing a new product. By comparison, the popular Apple AirPods Pro weigh around 5.4 grams per earphone, while the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 weigh around 5 grams. The Sony WF-1000XM4, on the other hand, weighs 7.3 grams.

While less weight also means less battery life, the LinkBuds S still seem to be able to offer decent sound. It will reportedly run for 6 hours (possibly with ANC disabled) and up to 20 hours with a charging case.
