Many benefits

It cannot be said that humanity in general has a problem with this technology, but reducing the size of components is always a good thing because this allows us to either adapt to more technology and therefore make our smartphones or other equipment more useful. and being productive or reducing the device size of the final product itself.

Because our sensors are at the molecular size, they can be used to detect other chemical or biological molecules, such as proteins and enzymes, which could revolutionize disease diagnosis.
– One of the researchers, Nadeem Darwish from Curtin University, is confident.

Darvish and his colleagues developed a new type of piezo resistor that is miniaturized and more sensitive. It consists of a bulvalene molecule that changes the movement of electric current by taking a new shape under mechanical pressure. These new forms are called isomers. They were used for the first time in piezoresistors.

The advantage of the new type of sensor is that it can electrically detect the change in shape of the bolvalent molecule by changing its electrical conductivity with a frequency of 1 millisecond. These are the first piezoresistors with such capabilities and created using this technology.

According to the inventors, the new type of piezoresistor will open up a completely new field of possibilities for chemical and biological sensors, human-machine interfaces and medical electronics.
