The video called “Our secret failure” tells about the Power (1) external battery, which fans of the brand will definitely not give up, because it, like the company’s smartphones and headphones, is produced in a familiar transparent case. We first heard about this in 2021, when there were rumors that the company was developing five new products at once, including a power bank.

The device received fast charging with a capacity of 65 watts, a coil for wireless charging of headphones and smart watches, as well as 4 USB ports. It was also quite compact compared to power banks on the market today. If it is usually made rectangular, then the device is square.

But despite months of development and huge financial costs, the company decided to abandon the release of Nothing Power (1). This happened already at the final stage of development. As Pei himself noted, the gadget had two main problems: overheating and brittleness.

The founder and CEO of the company decided not to ruin the reputation of the brand and canceled the product, but kept the working prototype of the powerbank as a souvenir. This is a very commendable decision considering that some other companies will release the product raw and then sell cases to protect the chassis and cooling fans.

Carl Pei did not say whether the company would return to this idea in the future.
