ASUS recently introduced the ROG Ally 8 series smartphones for the global market. The device will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor combined with ASUS’ advanced heat dissipation solution to ensure optimal gaming performance. The brand has confirmed that the device will be launched in China on January 16.
The announcement does not reveal any new details about the smartphone, but it does confirm that the presentation will start at 19:30 (GMT+8). Here’s everything we know about the ROG Phone 8 series.
White Asus hasn’t confirmed any details other than the partial design of the rear panel as seen in the teaser image above, with netizens zooming out the shadows in the teaser to reveal the redesigned camera island.
The new model will feature a square-shaped camera module cut from the right edge, which is technically pentagonal. We see three camera modules with LED flash on it. Since there are no bright RGB LEDs on the back, it’s safe to assume that this could be the vanilla ROG Phone 8.
All three models of the series (ROG Phone 8, ROG Phone 8 Pro and ROG Phone 8 Ultimate) appeared on Geekbench and some interesting details emerged. Geekbench listings show that the vanilla model has 16GB of RAM, while the Pro and Ultimate models have 24GB of RAM. Additionally, the vanilla ROG Phone 8 appears to come with the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, while the Pro and Ultimate models feature an overclocked version of the chip with a slightly higher peak clock frequency.
Although the global launch date has not yet been confirmed, ASUS ROG will be holding an event to unveil its “exciting new ROG lineup for 2024” on January 8, one day before CES 2024. There are speculations that the brand may introduce ROG Phone 8 at this event.
