What happened

After a Reddit user posted two photos of the aftermath of a car crash, the California Highway Patrol confirmed to reporters that their unit responded to a crash involving two vehicles: A 2023 Tesla Cybertruck with three people inside was struck by a car. The 2009 Toyota Corolla is driven by a 17-year-old driver.

Photos posted on Reddit show major damage to the front of the Corolla. There is no such damage to the parts we see on the Cybertruck. Probably all traces of impact are on the other side of the car’s body.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound when the driver made a right turn for unknown reasons and then struck the embankment on the right shoulder. The Toyota then re-entered the road, crossed the double yellow line and struck the northbound Cybertruck.

None of the participants in this incident were seriously injured. The only injuries reported in the statement provided by law enforcement were minor injuries to the Cybertruck driver, but the driver refused medical attention.

It is also stated that Tesla is in manual control and the autopilot is not activated.
