Sony Xperia 5VIt has finally started receiving the Android 14 update, which was released in September 2023. This update brings Google’s latest software features to the compact flagship phone, along with some Sony-exclusive additions.
The update includes all the standard features introduced in Android 14, such as improved privacy controls, advanced customization options and performance optimizations. As part of Sony’s addition, users will now be able to use the rear LED flash as a light notification as an alternative to traditional LED notification lights.
The Xperia 5 V also seamlessly integrates with Find My Device, allowing users to locate, lock or erase the phone remotely. Similarly, sharing files between Windows PC and Xperia 5 V is now easier thanks to the improved Nearby Sharing feature. In addition, users can personalize their lock screens by providing quick access to their favorite applications and features.
Since the Android 14 update for the Xperia 5 V is likely to be released gradually, it may not be available to everyone immediately. We expect an update in the next few days.
As a reminder, Sony Xperia 5 V has a 6.1 inch OLED screen with 120 Hz refresh rate and HDR support. The device is equipped with the top-notch Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, has 8GB RAM and 128GB expandable memory.
For photography, the Xperia 5 V has a universal configuration with three lenses. It has a 48-megapixel main sensor with a 1/1.35-inch sensor that defaults to 12-megapixel photos and offers 2x optical zoom. This is accompanied by a 12 MP ultra-wide lens. There is a 12-megapixel front camera for selfies.
The light is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast wired charging and 18W wireless charging. Durability is ensured by IP68 water resistance and Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
