After a long wait, Samsung has finally shed light on its latest flagship chip, the Exynos 2400. The chip was expected to compete closely with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and some early Geekbench benchmarks before the launch of the S24 series even suggested it might be better in some areas.

However, the latest results show that Snapdragon still has the upper hand in overall performance.

Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 compared

A Vietnamese YouTuber compared the Exynos 2400-based Galaxy S24 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, testing both chips on AnTuTu.

While the Exynos-powered Galaxy S24 scored 1.7 million points, the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S24 Ultra scored slightly higher with 1.8 million points. This represents a small performance difference of around 7% between the two.

But these numbers are probably lower than what these chips can do. Previously, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 had scored more than 2 million points in similar tests. This is probably because the testing was performed on pre-production hardware with unstable software and the chips were not able to show their full potential.

The YouTuber also noted that the larger Galaxy S24+ could outperform the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

However, the test shows that the Exynos 2400 chip, although powerful and almost as good as Snapdragon, is not very successful. It will be interesting to see how much the Exynos 2400 will improve with a proper firmware update in the future. Moreover, with the Dimensity 9300 chip, Samsung now faces tough competition from two high-end chips in the Android market.
