Google is actively working on a number of future smartphones. These include the Pixel 8a, the flagship Pixel 9 series, and the highly anticipated Pixel Fold 2. We’ve already seen some hints of the Pixel 8a’s design in leaked retail packaging, and images of the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro have emerged. It clearly shows the design language of the company’s upcoming smartphone series. Now a new element has been added to the mix.
Google Pixel GH2MB UL Demko certification
Google’s new smartphone with model number GH2MB was seen on UL certification site Demko. The certificate confirms that the device will have a 4,942 mAh battery, and this battery is likely to be sold at around 5,000 mAh.
The battery capacity of this mysterious device hints that it may not be the traditionally budget Pixel 8a. Its size is more in line with the battery expectations of the flagship Pixel 9 series, especially the Pro variants.
It is also possible that this certification will also apply to the Pixel Fold 2, as a larger battery will fit the foldable phone’s demanding form factor. However, the list does not specify what type of device it is. More certifications will shed more light on the true identity and features of GH2MB in the near future.
In related Pixel news, a new Tensor chipset has been spotted on Geekbench, likely the Tensor G4. This chip may be used in the upcoming Google Pixel 9 and Pixel Fold 2.
However, the Geekbench listing shows that the SoC has an eight-core processor, while the Tensor G3 has nine cores. Also, its performance seems slightly worse than the previous model. This may be because it’s an engineered model, but it’s a bit confusing when a company reduces the number of cores.
