Earlier this month, information about Google’s upcoming Pixel Fold 2 was leaked, but it was not very clear. But new 3D images from YouTuber TT Technology Provides a clearer view of the device. However, keep in mind that this is just a 3D image based on a previous leak and may not represent the actual device.
In these renders, we see visible changes in the design of the camera module. Pixel Fold 2 will have a rectangular module instead of the slatted design of the original model.
The camera sensors are located in a pill-shaped cutout on this module, and there is also an LED backlight that slides slightly to the right. Additionally, the edges of the device are curved.
As for the camera setup, the Pixel Fold 2 is expected to feature a quad-camera system including a primary, ultra-wide-angle and telephoto lens. There is speculation about the purpose of the fourth sensor, with possibilities such as a periscopic telephoto lens or an infrared/spectral/ToF sensor.
It is also said that the Pixel Fold 2 will be powered by the new Tensor G4 chipset, which means Google will skip the Tensor G3 chipset as it will be foldable. It may also change the launch schedule of the smartphone.
Google usually introduces new Tensor chipsets at its fall hardware event. However, if the Pixel Fold 2 is unveiled at this year’s I/O event, it may not include the newer Tensor G4.
However, if the input/output occurs before Pixel Fold 2 is started, it is not possible to bypass the Tensor G3. It would make sense for Google’s most expensive device to have the latest chip, but that’s just a rumor for now. We don’t currently have details about the Pixel Fold 2, but we can expect rumors about the device to start circulating soon.
