Apple’s product development process often involves exploring multiple design options. The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are said to have gone through a similar testing process, and the prototypes include some unusual camera configurations. A leak last week hinted at a special feature of the iPhone 16 Pro: a camera module that looks like a fidget spinner.
Now, a new leak suggests that the upcoming iPhone Pro may have a triangular rear camera module, giving the device an electric shaver-like appearance.
Trusted tipster Majin Bu shared a potential design for the iPhone 16 Pro, citing anonymous sources. X/Twitter. As for why Apple might consider this design, the speaker says the triangular form factor could be a strategic choice to accommodate larger camera sensors or accommodate the overall increase in lens count.
In addition to possible camera variations, the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to have an updated telephoto lens. The iPhone 16 Pro Max even has a larger main sensor compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. One possible candidate is Sony’s Exmor IMX903. However, according to rumors, the maximum resolution of the camera will be 48 MP, as in the current generation models.
It’s important to note that Apple tests a wide variety of prototypes before finalizing a design. Previous rumors of a hole-punch front camera for the iPhone 16 did not materialize, and this triangular camera may suffer the same fate. Even the whistleblowers themselves admit that there is no way to verify the authenticity of this information. Therefore, we recommend that you approach this leak with skepticism.
