Music giant Universal Music leaves TikTok and agrees with Spotify: artists can advertise songs on Spotify!

0

One of the largest music companies Universal group music (UMG) The deal with TikTok recently ended. For this reason, songs from artists affiliated with the company were removed from the platform. These singers included many globally successful names, from Taylor Swift to Drake, from Beyonce to Adele.

Today, the company has taken action that is believed to be against TikTok. Universal Group Music has announced that it has expanded its strategic agreement with Spotify.

The deal allows singers to promote their music on Spotify

The new agreement allows UMG affiliated artists to promote their unreleased songs through Spotify. It also allows them to share their music videos. In recent weeks we have seen Spotify start testing music videos in 11 countries. The agreement with UMG also falls under this function. It was indicated that artists affiliated with UMG will share music videos primarily in the US.

As is known, TikTok has become the number one music discovery platform in recent years. Artists could promote their songs on TikTok instead of other platforms. However, UMG’s departure left the singers without a platform with which to promote themselves.

Therefore, the agreement with Spotify is expected to close this gap and provide a new alternative to advertising for singers. We can also understand that Spotify is slowly transforming from a music platform to a social media platform.

The joint statement from UGM and Spotify did not announce when these innovations will be available to users. We can predict that we will see it soon.
