According to new rumors from Korea, an advanced titanium processing and painting process will be used in Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 Pro models. According to news aggregator account “yeux1122” on the Naver blog, the new process will make the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max look glossier than the iPhone 15 Pro models with a matte finish.
The improved manufacturing process is claimed to result in a glossy exterior that more closely resembles the highly polished stainless steel used on previous iPhone Pros. However, the new titanium coating will be less prone to scratches compared to stainless steel.
The matte finish on iPhone 15 Pro models is significantly less reflective than the finish on previous iPhone Pro models. It is less prone to fingerprints and also reduces the visibility of scratches. In addition to the appearance, Apple’s use of titanium frames in the “iPhone 15 Pro” devices also reduced the weight of the devices. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are approximately nine percent lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
In addition, according to Apple, the titanium frame and aluminum infrastructure provide better heat dissipation than previous generation Pro models with stainless steel frames.
There were rumors earlier this week that the “iPhone 16 Pro” models would be available in new “space black” and “pink” titanium colors. “Rose” is gold, and “Space Black” can replace the black titanium version. Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 16 series in the fall.
