For years, our main complaint at Xataka about Sony mobile phones was their format: they were too narrow. Finally in this generation Switching to 19.5:9 format, a common aspect ratio on other phones. This means a phone with a panel that’s slightly wider but not that tall.
Speaking of the panel, Sony wanted to prioritize energy efficiency and therefore said goodbye to its usual 4K resolution. It now has a Full HD+ panel, a resolution that casual consumers think is more than enough for their multimedia needs. The panel is again OLED; in this case it is 6.5 inches with LTPO technology and an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz.
A great innovation of this display concerns its technology: Same BRAVIA technologies as Sony televisionshence a big jump in quality is expected. Likewise, brightness has increased by 50% compared to the previous generation.
As for autonomy, Sony promises that the 5,000 mAh capacity of this phone will surprise you with up to two days of use. This is something we will check in the review, but moving from 4K to Full HD+ will have some consequences. The processor, as it could not be otherwise, is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 accompanied by 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory. Since this is the first Sony to feature a vapor chamber, it is hoped that the temperature issues will finally subside.
The main camera is the same as last year, but it can now zoom 2x by cutting off the sensor and promises improvements via software. The most relevant change came in the camera app: They finally combined video, photos, Pro photography, and other apps into a single app to make everything more useful.
The changes come to the telephoto lens, which can now take photos in the 3.5 to 7.1x optical range with the same sensor and lens. This allows it to cover a certain focal range. 85mm to 170mmwith great macro capabilities.
Sony Xperia I VI will be available from the beginning of June at a price of 1,399 Euros. It can be purchased in black with the 12 + 256 GB version.
