According to network sources, Nothing is preparing to announce a new smartphone that will likely be called Phone 3 and will support a host of AI-based features. Rumors about the existence of a new smartphone from the manufacturer have been circulating for a long time, but this week they were accidentally confirmed by Nothing founder Carl Pei.

In a message posted on social network X, Pei said people love their smartphones, but “The user experience hasn’t changed in a very long time”. But everything is getting faster, nicer and easier. “The core experience has not changed”. According to the Nothing section, this may change soon. There has also been recent talk of Phone 3, which Pei said will be the company’s first smartphone with true artificial intelligence.

The company’s short video shows various demos of the user interface; one of them actually copies features introduced during OpenAI’s GPT-4o neural network demonstration. It is about a personalized voice assistant built into the operating system, whose interaction will allow you to solve various tasks. Another rendering shows an interactive personal dynamic home screen that allows you to quickly get the information you need, including the Internet. According to Pei, the idea is to move smartphones from the app-focused category to devices that know what the user needs and where he is at all times.

Pei says that the company currently only has brand new prototypes and that the process of replacing the home screen will take some time. Frankly, Nothing hasn’t been working on integrating AI technologies into its smartphones for a long time. Recently, developers added support for the ChatGPT AI bot to the Ear headphones. If nothing sticks to the previous smartphone release schedule, Phone 3 could be announced as early as July.
