HMD Global appears to be preparing another affordable phone for the US market after launching the Vibe earlier this year. User @smashx_60HMD, known for sharing details about its upcoming devices, has revealed that the Atlas is the successor to the Nokia G400 that will be launched in 2022.
The leak offers a look at the phone’s design through a sketch and a rendered image. HMD Atlas has a flat body with a rectangular camera module on the back. There are thin bezels on the front with cutouts for the selfie camera. We see the image in olive green, but there are probably other color options as well.
According to rumors, there will be a 6.64-inch IPS LCD display under the hood with Full HD + resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. The device will likely be powered by a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The camera department is reported to feature a 48MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, which is accompanied by a 5MP ultrawide lens and depth sensor on the back. For selfies, the 16-megapixel camera will be placed inside the punch-hole cutout.
The 5500 mAh capacity battery supports Quick Charge 4.0 technology. Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC, and the phone is said to offer memory expansion via a microSD card slot, side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5mm jack for headphones for wired audio.
The leak also claims that the HMD Atlas will measure 163x75x8.75 mm and weigh 210 grams. The 8GB/128GB model is expected to be priced at $239.99, but there is no information on a release date at this time.
