Chinese company Oppo has slightly overhauled its Reno12 series and introduced the Oppo Reno12 and Oppo Reno12 Pro for the European market. It is worth noting that they are different from the Reno12 and 12 Pro for China.

The first difference is the Dimensity 7300-Energy chipset, which has been optimized by MediaTek and Oppo for “exceptional energy efficiency”. Both phones had a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 120 Hz frame rate and FHD + resolution. The Pro model uses Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while the base model uses Gorilla Glass 7i.

Oppo Reno12 Pro has excellent cameras. The main camera has a resolution of 50 MP (1/1.95 inch, Sony LYT600) and a 26 mm f/1.8 lens with optical image stabilization. Next to it is an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle module (16 mm, f/2.2) with an IMX355 sensor.

The Pro model has been dubbed “Portrait Expert” by Oppo due to its two portrait cameras, a 50MP main camera module on the back and also a 50MP front-facing module. Both cameras can record 4K video at 30 frames per second. The regular Oppo Reno12 has the same main and ultra-wide-angle cameras but there is no telephoto module, instead a 2 MP macro module is installed. The selfie camera is 32 megapixels.

The phones have artificial intelligence-supported features such as AI Clear Face, which beautifies the lines of the face, hair and eyebrows. AI Best Face ensures that everyone in the frame has their eyes open. Oppo has also updated its “smart eraser” AI Eraser. There is an AI Toolbox consisting of AI Write, AI Speak, and AI Summary, which uses Google’s Gemini model for text and speech.

Both phones have a 5,000 mAh battery with 80W charging support and are water and dust resistant (IP65). Reno12 Pro is thinner (7.40 mm), but slightly heavier – 180 g. The base model is 7.6 mm thick and weighs 177 grams.

Oppo introduced BeaconLink communication function for emergencies. The service allows you to make voice calls from a distance of up to 200 m using proprietary Bluetooth protocols, cellular coverage is not required. In fact, BeaconLink turns the Oppo Reno12 and Reno12 Pro into high-end radios.

Both models will be available soon. The price of Oppo Reno12 is 500 Euros (12/256 GB), while the price of Oppo Reno12 Pro is 600 Euros (12/512 GB).
