Summer is the time our phones hate the most. If we are careless, we can seriously damage the health of our battery and degrade key components faster than necessary, ensuring that performance is maintained for years. There is no magic solution, even less so in regions like Andalusia, where a server lives.

However, there are small habits we can apply to lower the temperature of the phone by a few degrees and prevent it from overheating.

No cover in summer. Yes, I am the first person who is afraid of dropping and damaging the phone, but usually a few months of extreme precautions are enough. Cases are the natural enemy of our phones falling apart, no matter how thick they are.

The best quality ones are usually quite thick and can increase the temperature of our phone in summer. Removing them does not cause the phone to cool completely, but it is an important protective factor when using the terminal.

Minimize your sun exposure. Using your phone in bright sunlight is a very common thing that we do without even realizing it. Traveling with your phone in a GPS holder. Using your phone on the beach. Going on a trip and taking photos or videos in direct sunlight for long periods of time… Summer invites you to use your phone during the hottest part of the day, but this combination is terrible.

In fact, there are combinations that we should avoid at all costs, such as car + GPS support + mobile charging, because they maximize the possibility of the phone reaching temperatures above 45 degrees. Based on these figures, there is a clear consensus that both the battery and the internal components are starting to suffer undue damage.

One of the biggest problems with cell phones during the summer months is camera use. Although it may seem shocking, it is easier for your phone to overheat from using the camera for a while than from playing for a few hours (depending on the game, of course).

By pointing the camera at full sun, we’re forcing the panel to reach its peak. When recording video, the internal memory is running at full speed, and all the processing performed on each of the photos and videos you take requires significant work from the CPU.

Summer is here and we will use the camera no matter what. However, it is advisable to take these factors into account to avoid going out to take photos when the temperature is most inappropriate.

Avoid maximizing brightness. This is often difficult, but maximum brightness on phones is more important than ever. With our current war on the night, phones are using up absurd amounts of power when they’re at their peak.

They are actually bothered by such a high-end device, and if you have a high-end device, you may have encountered a common problem: the brightness was at maximum and then suddenly dropped. This is the phone’s way of protecting itself from significant temperature increases. So if you can carry the phone with a brightness around 70 or 80% instead of 100%, even better.

Another good practice is to avoid using Always On Display mode. Some phones use the light sensor to configure the AOD brightness. In summer, this can cause both battery drain and extra heat.
