Earlier this year, HMD announced that it was working on its own flip phone. What makes this model stand out is its collaboration with Barbie. Now we finally have information on an official launch date and certification platform for this HMD Barbie Flip Phone.

To recall, the upcoming HMD phone was announced alongside the iconic Barbie brand and the DIY development platform that comes with the HMD Crest series. While the finer details about the device are still unclear, the company has revealed the launch date. The HMD Barbie Flip phone is scheduled to launch on August 28, 2024. On the eve of the release date, the flip phone has appeared on Elements certification. This database confirms its charging capabilities.

HMD’s Barbie Flip phone has been spotted with the model number TA-1681. It has been observed that it only supports 5W (5VDC x 1A) charging. The phone is said to be a feature phone and is a rebranded version of the Nokia 2660 Flip. However, it will come in hot pink. This is clearly seen in the promotional poster that was released on the brand’s X-handle (formerly Twitter). We can also clearly see the “Barbie” trademark on the cover display.

The Nokia 2660 Flip is notable for being a phone that was launched in 2023. It had a 2.8-inch display and was compatible with hearing aids. The phone also supported India’s digital scanning feature and UPI payments. This model is available in juicy green-pink colors. Therefore, the new version is most likely a special edition variant. Other notable features include 4G dual SIM, VoLTE, and a 1450mAh battery.
