Last line iPhone 16 from Apple The focus has been on incremental improvements rather than revolutionary leaps. This year’s highlight feature was Apple Intelligence, but that’s MIA. The company also announced improved battery life across the lineup.
The company claims that the iPhone 16 Pro Max offers four hours more video playback than its predecessor, while the base iPhone 16 offers two hours more. However, a recent test by popular tech YouTuber MrWhosetheboss sheds light on the battery’s actual performance.
A YouTuber put the new iPhones to the test by pitting them against their predecessors and Android’s perennial rival, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. And the results are mixed.
The test simulated real-life scenarios by switching between popular apps like social media, YouTube, and Slack. The Galaxy S24 Ultra with its powerful 5,000mAh battery was the clear winner with a whopping 12 hours and 31 minutes of battery life.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max came in second with a respectable time of 11 hours and 22 minutes, which was a marked improvement over the iPhone 15 Pro Max (9 hours and 35 minutes).
The rest of the iPhone 16 lineup followed suit, with both the Plus and Pro clocking in at 8 hours and 19 minutes, while the standard iPhone 16 matched that time. All of the iPhone 16 models outperformed their iPhone 15 counterparts, but none reached the heights of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Here are the results:
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: 12 hours 31 minutes
iPhone 16 Pro Max: 11 hours 22 minutes
iPhone 15 Pro Max: 9 hours 35 minutes
iPhone 16 Plus: 8 hours 45 minutes
iPhone 16 Pro: 8 hours 19 minutes
iPhone 16: 8 hours 19 minutes
iPhone 15: 7 hours 45 minutes
The iPhone 16 series offers better battery life, but it still can’t beat the S24 Ultra, despite using Apple’s second-generation 3nm chip, which is more efficient than the S24 Ultra’s 4nm chip. The results are interesting, but keep in mind that battery life can vary depending on individual usage patterns.
