It looks like Qualcomm is changing the naming strategy for its flagship chips for mobile devices. The Xiaomi 15 launch teaser shows that the single-chip system, previously called Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, will be called Snapdragon 8 Elite. This is similar to the name Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite used in Windows laptops.
The poster confirms that the Xiaomi 15 launch is planned for October 23, which means Qualcomm may announce the Snapdragon 8 Elite before that date.
Snapdragon 8 Elite is expected to be Qualcomm’s first 3nm chip and offers a 56% increase in GPU performance over Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It was spotted on Geekbench with a base clock speed of 3.53GHz and a peak clock speed of 4.47GHz. The device managed to score 3011 points in the single-core test and 9706 points in the multi-core test.
The certificate confirmed that the Xiaomi 15 Pro will receive 90W fast charging support, just like the Redmi Note 14 Pro+. For some reason, the Chinese manufacturer reduced the power of fast charging in its new generation devices. The previous Xiaomi 14 Pro had 120W fast charging support. Xiaomi 15 series will come pre-installed with HyperOS 2.0 based on Android 15.
