Here are the Motorola devices that will receive the Android 15 update

Motorola’s has a reputation for falling behind on updating software for its phones. While it’s not a 180 yet, the company has quietly announced which devices will receive the Android 15 upgrade, and it’s mixed.

This news came with permission YTechBWho looked at Motorola’s US website and found endorsements scattered across various device pages. There is no official master list, but YTechB Still, it did something useful. It includes the bulk of Motorola’s lineup, which includes the Edge and Razr series, as well as a few Moto G models.

List of Motorola phones eligible for Android 15 update

ThinkPhone

  • ThinkPhone 25

The list may seem long, but many phones are missing. For example, the entire Moto G 2023 series is gone, as are the Motorola Edge 2023 and all Moto G 2022 phones.

The most surprising omission was the Moto G Play 2024, an affordable phone that launched with Android 13 in January. It received Android 14 this month, but future updates are unknown.

Motorola really deserves credit for its recent efforts to improve software support. The mid-range Edge 50 Neo, released last month, has five major operating system updates and five years of security patches. With all that said, the company still has a lot of work to do with its budget-friendly Moto G series, which has historically received only one major update.

In contrast, competitors such as Samsung offer much longer support. The Galaxy A16, for example, comes with six years of OS and security updates, while earlier budget models received four OS updates and five years of security patches. We hope Motorola will make efforts to improve this front further.
