There are such rumors Apple will bring some big changes to the series iPhone 17. Speculation suggests that Apple may abandon the “Plus” model for the iPhone 17 “Air” or iPhone 17 “Slim” model. It is speculated that the iPhone 17 Slim could be a great phone with non-pro features and could bring some of the biggest design changes since the iPhone X. The “slim” model is also said to have a 24 MP selfie camera and 12 GB RAM. and possibly a 3 nm processor.

Now a new leak has emerged, this time about the high-end iPhone 17 Pro Max. According to analyst Jeff Pu, the high-end iPhone 17 Pro Max will have a smaller and narrower Dynamic Island. According to an analyst note from investment bank Haitong International obtained by MacRumors earlier this month, Pu said Apple may make changes to Face ID with the iPhone 17 Pro Max next year.

Notably, Apple could use “metals” for Face ID, allowing the company to embed a smaller Dynamic Island in the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Pu also added that this change may not apply to the smaller iPhone 17 Pro or other iPhone 17 models. What are the “metal lenses” that cannot be applied to other iPhone 17 models?

According to reports, traditional iPhone cameras have curved lenses that direct light towards the image sensor. Metalens is a thin, flat lens with microscopic patterns. These patterns can focus light onto a single point more precisely than the iPhone’s standard curved lenses. Unfortunately, Pu did not explain how Apple will use this technology to shrink Dynamic Island on the iPhone 17 Pro Max or how “metal lenses” will be used in Face ID.
