Old fans are disappointed
It seems some longtime fans of Elon Musk and Tesla believe their electric cars have become red flags that attract the attention of passersby. So they put stickers on them in response. According to the news reported by 24 Kanal with reference to the climate change news site Heatmap, the manufacturer of such stickers has made a profitable business by selling them in large quantities.
Even before the Elon sticker came out, I started making stickers myself.
says Matthew Hiller, the Waikiki resident behind the popular store.
Its most popular sticker now reads: “I bought this before I found out Elon was crazy.”

Hiller says the idea to start making mocking stickers came to him when he was considering buying his own Tesla car in 2023. Musk had already purchased Twitter at that time, but had not yet fully revealed himself. Then, as he began to turn the once-comfortable platform into a dumping ground for supporters of Russian propaganda, conspiracy theories, and hate speech from various quarters, the seller realized that, as the source wrote, “he would definitely not be able to withstand such a toxic brand.” This gave him a gave an idea.
“I thought there was no way I could buy a Tesla. But there must be so many people who are embarrassed to support him driving their Teslas on the streets and want to give up on this guy altogether. I know I would want to do that.” Hiller says he sold my car right after he saw what he did.
The first sticker had a small circulation, going viral multiple times on social networks and even making it onto news sites like Business Insider and the Washington Post. This meant he had to press a lot harder.
I was selling five or seven a day and then suddenly it was 50 because someone mentioned it on reddit.
– the seller is talking about.
More than a year after sales began, he says interest in the product is “crazy” and has increased “incredibly” since Trump won the election. “I’m barely making it. I work full time at the aquarium and come home and wrap stickers until 11 p.m. It’s just me and my wife doing it all.”
Hiller says Sold more than 10,000 units since last yearan average of 180 stickers per day. That means there are at least 10,000 Tesla cars driving around in the US with the sign “I bought this before I knew Elon was crazy.”
Competitors, of course, do not sleep, so followers have already appeared on Amazon and other similar sites selling similar stickers with the same inscriptions. But that doesn’t bother the creator of the original, as he still barely has time to process existing orders, which he says is “difficult.”
