US and Japan want to reduce dependency on Taiwan: What countries agree on

As you know, Taiwan is the world’s leading supplier of chips today, occupying about 50 percent of the market. The dependence of both individual companies and entire countries on cooperation with TSMC endanger not only the manufacturers but also the world economy. That’s why the US and Japan are trying to reduce their technology’s dependence on Taiwan, which is at the center of political tension.

Which countries agree on?

According to sources, the governments of the two countries are close to agreeing on cooperation. Chip fabrication using a 2 nanometer technological process and even more perfect. Also, work is underway to prevent information leaks, which means effectively preventing China’s technology theft.

The new research center will be created by the Chip Research Institute in collaboration with the University of Tokyo and the Institute of Natural Sciences. It is not yet clear where it will be located, but it will likely be far from China. Technical support will come from the US National Center for Semiconductor Technology. The experts will be there too.

Countries plan to develop technologies for the production of 2 nanometer semiconductors that will reduce energy consumption while increasing chip performance. It is assumed that mass production will start no later than 2025.
