The network talked about Samsung’s patent application, which describes an unusual dual-screen smartphone with a transparent screen.

A newly discovered patent application in the database of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) was filed in January of this year. It describes a solid smartphone with a modest design, except for the addition of an almost invisible screen on the back.

Chinese smartphone maker ZTE tried to do something similar with the Nubia X and Nubia Z20 a few years ago. However, a transparent screen was not used on these devices. The rear glass panel has been applied with a higher opacity to hide the normal screen when closed.

However, Samsung’s patent application describes a device with a transparent display that can be opened fully or partially, similar to Always-on-Display.

Since this is just a patent, it is not yet clear whether we will see such a device on store shelves.
