It is not possible to download and install the new update from Russian IP addresses. A workaround in the form of downloading a ready-made distribution of Windows 11 from the Microsoft website was also blocked – the software giant did this at the beginning of summer 2022 after the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukrainian territory.

Big problems still lie ahead

The lack of access to Windows 11 updates does not bode well for Russians. Residents of the swamp called Russia got rid of not only the new “chips” of the system, but also the security patches included in such updates.

Failure to receive these patches leads to potential security issues. Users’ computers become significantly more vulnerable to hacker attacks, which will certainly be used not only by ordinary hackers, but also by groups such as the Ukrainian IT Army and Anonymous.

As it will be remembered, after Russia’s extensive invasion of Ukraine, the president of Microsoft Corporation, Brad Smith, announced that the company would completely cease its activities in Russia. This applies to all aspects, from the sale of equipment to the operation of the Xbox gaming division, which is also absent in the swamps.
