Periodically, stories appear in the media about how the Apple Watch saved its owners by detecting a chronic disease or heart failure in time. But this story turned out to be completely different – the owner of the watch barely managed to escape from injuries.

What happened?

• The owner of the Apple Watch Series 7 said that he used the watch in normal mode but felt how it started to get hotter than usual one evening.
• He then discovered that the back of the case (the glass protecting the health sensors) had cracked and the operating system was warning of the need to shut down due to the high temperature.
• At the same time, the man, whose name has not been released, claims to be at a normal temperature in his home.

The owner of the device immediately called Apple support. A support worker logged the request and told him to wait for a call. Until then, it is recommended not to touch the clock.

Then the situation worsened. In the morning, the gadget’s screen came out and cracked. When the man took the watch to take pictures for Apple support, it started making “cracking noises” before it turned into smoke and exploded.

According to the victim, he managed to throw the watch out the open window. He managed to avoid injuries, but his sofa “burned out” – it briefly caught fire.

The causes of the explosion are not yet known. Apple has confirmed it will investigate. At the same time, the company submitted a confidentiality document and asked the customer to sign it. He refused and told his story to 9to5Mac reporters.
